About

What we are about

AfYEF is a league of youth entrepreneurship organizations from across the African continent. It serves as a representative voice for young entrepreneurs on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). It was formed as an apex body to empower African youth organizations to mobilize and support young entrepreneurs, so they can take part in and benefit from the AfCFTA agreement. It aims to drive trade, advocate for policy reforms, and provide business support services. These include information on funding sources to help young entrepreneurs access credit. It also works to improve the business ecosystem for them, with a special focus on AfCFTA. Its headquarters are in Ghana. Its website says it has a combined membership strength of about 100,000. It has chapters in several African countries and the diaspora, and it runs events such as the Africa-Young Entrepreneurs Summit (YES Africa), Trade Queen Africa and Africa Elevate.

Our history

AfYEF began in late 2020 as an informal group of a few African youth entrepreneurship organizations. They saw a need to work together to mobilize their members for AfCFTA. The federation was publicly launched in Accra around the end of June 2021 (reported 1 July 2021). At the launch, Siita Sofo Hissan was named President and Sherif Ghali was named Secretary General. Siita Sofo Hissan is described as founding president and is still described as President / Continental President in news from January 2026, which is the most recent source used. A ZoomInfo directory lists Comfort Chinengundu as Continental General Secretary, but it is undated. The Secretary General office therefore has no current holder recorded here. The contact details supplied by the requester (a business card) give the address in East Legon, Accra. Social pages list other addresses: a Tantra Hill, Accra address on X and Facebook, and a Lusaka, Zambia address on the Continental Administration Facebook page.
